Interpreting this mysterious group of islands, Kate Ballis’ series “Spectrums of the Galapagos” takes viewers on a journey to explore the abstraction, emotion and energy of pure colour.

Kates’ images do away with line and physical form and allow the colours themselves to become the composition, the basis for interpretation and connection. Captured using a digital SLR, Ballis worked with a mysterious acetate procured from a fashion Atelier in New York which dances with prismatic rainbows when moved against the light. Archival Giclée print on 100% cotton rag art paper. Composite timber frame with an ombré holographic enamel finish using non-reflective glass, uniquely designed for the series by United Measures. Each size is an edition of 8 + 2 Artist Proofs.
