Recovering Our Timber Waste
24.07.25
Circularity is central to our approach at Jardan. Every piece of timber we use is carefully considered—not just in how it's shaped, but in how it continues to serve beyond its original purpose.
Since 2022, we have introduced two new machines into our Melbourne workshop, capturing the small offcuts and sawdust left behind during production. These materials are then compressed into heating briquettes, rather than heading to landfill. Due to our commitment to sustainable sourcing, our timber burns cleanly and safely, free from harmful treatments or chemicals.
In partnership with Victorian small business ECO247, these briquettes are now making their way into homes across the state. This initiative represents more than efficiency—it's a meaningful step toward reducing landfill waste while keeping our materials in use for longer. By transforming our waste into usable fuel, this also reduces demand for virgin timber, creating a truly renewable heating solution.
We're confident this project can divert up to 90% of our burnable timber waste from landfill while significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. It's one more way we honour the materials we work with, continuing our journey toward a more thoughtful, circular future.
