Byron Bay has welcomed ESTE Wategos, a pair of architecturally designed residences set beneath the town's lighthouse and overlooking Wategos Beach. Conceived by co-founders Dr George Bilios and Chris Bissiotis, and designed by Shaun Lockyer Architects, the property reflects a contemporary approach to coastal living that balances architecture, nature and wellbeing.

Drawing on blue-green space theory, the design responds to the convergence of ocean and rainforest. Each three-storey residence features a central light well that floods the interiors with natural light while blending indoor and outdoor spaces.

Built by DB Build, the structures feature bespoke spotted gum finishes and honed Italian travertine. Interiors by Fiona Dunin of FMD Architects layer custom furniture, with the warm, earthy palette allowing the architecture's connection to the beachside environment to take precedence.
