Spring St Apartment

Lovell Burton Architecture has transformed a 14th-floor apartment in one of Melbourne's first towers. With warm tones, contrasting textures and subtle homage to its 1970s heritage, the home feels both open and intimate.

Inspired by the concept of duality, the design opens to panoramic views of the dense city in juxtaposition to the leafy eastern suburbs. This is further reflected in material choices, such as hard and soft flooring, as well as reductive and more tactile finishes. Darker, moodier retreats balance the bright, limewashed living zones that capture shifting light throughout the day.

The result is a contemporary sanctuary that honours its postmodernist heritage while creating distinct zones for both entertaining and private retreat.
