What we are looking for :
We are seeking a full time Purchasing Officer to oversee the direction of all textile purchasing. Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, we’re looking for someone that has :
- 3 + years experience in textile purchasing or a related tertiary qualifications
- Exposure to the fabric/textile industry within both domestic and international markets
- An elevated attention to detail level and is highly organised
- The ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
This role will be based onsite at our HQ in Scoresby.
What are the role entails :
- Responsible for the purchasing and freight of all textiles, leathers and other materials used for production
- Manage all associated costs and the day to day expenditure of textiles and leathers. Process local and international costings
- Monitor and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers as well as monitoring gross profit percentages
- Expedite deliveries to hit scheduling requirements
- Monitor textile usage in consultation with the Cutting team and allocate/reallocate jobs to maximize yield
- Assist Customer Service, Cutting and R&D teams to resolve fabric issues and any QC related queries
- Resolve issues with fabric mills/suppliers if required. Ensure fabric issues are captured on a Non-Conformance Report and addressed with suppliers
- Provide information and suggestions on the removal of slow-moving SKU’s
- Maintain all textile and leather information within the internal database including price, availability and arrival estimates
- Sign off invoicing in consultation with Finance Team
- Prepare monthly reports including statistics on savings trends, availability of textiles and leathers and provide recommendations to Management
- Provide planning information relating to costs and inventory of stock, as required for current and future financial years
- Support biannual stocktakes of textile, leather, rug and timber samples across all business locations in collaboration with internal teams
- Provide support with any Homewares/ Showroom purchasing, as required
- Place orders and stock quantities for each Showrooms fabric samples, in consultation with the Head of VM and Styling
- Provide support in ordering homewares components such as buttons and trims
- Ad hoc duties as reasonably required by the company
