Los Angeles based artist Cindy Hsu Zell has a deep curiosity about form, texture and minimalism. Growing up in San Gabriel near the mountains, her approach to art stems from a love of nature and movement. All of Cindy’s sculptures are made using mindfully sourced materials from nature: wood, ceramics, stone and natural fibres. Embracing interaction and the spirit of the handmade, Cindy uses a careful and meditative process for spinning and dyeing rope, resulting in a contrast between the softness of the fibres and tension required to hold it together. 

Lago Tassel Cream 100 x 20cm is made with spalted maple and hand-spun cotton rope. The piece explores the influence of gravity on composition, serving as a sculptural study on gesture, curves, drape, and weight.
