Working from her studio in the Byron Bay hinterland, contemporary artist Hattie Zampa creates expressive paintings shaped by her upbringing in the Australian outback. Using acrylic, oil and oil stick on canvas, her work combines layered textures, rich colour and a refined palette, bringing warmth and character to contemporary interiors.
Originally from a rural community south of Darwin, Hattie's connection to expansive landscapes and family life continues to shape her practice. Now based in Byron Bay, the region's natural beauty and slower pace have become an equally important influence, resulting in work that feels grounded and enduring.
Working intuitively, Hattie allows each painting to evolve through layers of colour and texture. Rather than concealing earlier marks, she embraces them as part of the work's story, creating depth, character and authenticity.
